Call for Teen Research Symposium (EN)
We are pleased to announce the Teen Research Track (High School Student Research Symposium) at IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM) 2026.
This track is dedicated exclusively to high school students who are interested in data mining, machine learning, and data-driven discovery. The symposium aims to provide an encouraging and professional forum for early-stage student researchers to present original research ideas, methods, and applications, and to engage with the broader data mining community.
Scope of Topics
We invite original research paper submissions authored primarily by high school students. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:
Topics of Interest
Foundations, algorithms, models, and theory of data mining
Machine learning, deep learning, and statistical methods for data mining
Mining heterogeneous data sources, including: Text and semi-structured data, Spatio-temporal and streaming data, Graph, network, web, and multimedia data
Data mining systems and platforms, including: Scalable and efficient data mining methods, Privacy-aware and secure data analysis
Data mining for visualization, personalization, and recommendation
Data mining for cyber-physical systems and complex, evolving networks
Data mining with large language models and foundation models
Novel applications of data mining in data science, including: Social sciences, Physical sciences and engineering, Life sciences and healthcare, Climate and environmental science, Web, marketing, finance, and other real-world domains
Submissions should present original ideas, exploratory studies, novel applications, or early-stage methodologies. Evaluation will consider technical soundness, originality, relevance, and clarity, with expectations appropriate for high school–level research.
Eligibility
Only high school students enrolled in an academic program at the time of submission are eligible to submit papers as first authors.
Each submission must include at least one high school student author, who is expected to present the paper if accepted.
Co-authorship with faculty members, mentors, or researchers is permitted; however, the high school student must be the primary contributor to the work.
Submission Format Requirements
Papers must follow the IEEE Computer Society Proceedings Manuscript Formatting Guidelines.
Paper length: up to 5 pages, including all figures, tables, and references.
Please clearly indicate “High School Student” in the first author’s affiliation.
Important Dates (Tentative)
Paper Submission Deadline: 09/01/2026
Notification of Acceptance: 10/01/2026
Camera-Ready Submission: TBD (2026)
Symposium Date: TBD (during ICDM 2026)
How to Submit
All papers should be submitted electronically through the ICDM 2026 submission system under the Teen Research Track.
The review process is single-blind: reviewers remain anonymous, while authors are visible.
Accepted papers will be included in the ICDM 2026 associated proceedings, published by the IEEE Computer Society Press, and made available through the conference.
Program Committee
Program Committee members will be announced soon.
Presentation Format
Presentation details (oral or poster format, time allocation) will be announced after acceptance notifications.
