Call for Student Travel Grants
We are pleased to announce student travel support opportunities for the IEEE International Conference on Data Mining (ICDM 2026), taking place in Shenyang, China, from 12 to 15 November 2026. These grants are intended to reduce the cost of in-person attendance and support broad participation in the ICDM research community.
Thirty grants will be awarded. Each grant provides up to five nights of accommodation at the official conference hotel for an in-person attendee, generously funded by the ICDM 2026 Conference. Recipients are responsible for booking and funding their own flights and for any expenses not expressly covered by the grant.
Important Dates
Application deadline: 15 October 2026 (Anywhere on Earth, AoE).
Notification of results: 20 October 2026.
Eligibility
Applicants must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students in good standing and must attend ICDM 2026 in person.
Applicants must have registered and paid for the conference before applying.
Applicants must state that they do not have sufficient alternative funding available to support conference attendance.
Applicants must agree to undertake at least one reasonable conference service assignment if selected.
An accepted ICDM main-track or workshop paper is welcome but is not a strict eligibility requirement.
Selection Priorities
As the number of grants is limited, eligible applications will be assessed competitively. Priority consideration will be given to:
Student first authors of accepted ICDM 2026 main-track papers; authors of accepted workshop papers and other eligible students are also encouraged to apply.
Students attending ICDM for the first time.
Applicants with demonstrated financial need and limited alternative funding.
Students from underrepresented groups in the community, including undergraduate students, women and underrepresented minorities.
Applicants from institutions with limited or less-established representation at previous ICDM conferences.
The selection committee will consider these factors collectively; meeting an individual priority does not guarantee an award.
Conference Service Commitment
To support the conference community, grant recipients are expected to complete at least one limited service assignment during ICDM 2026. Depending on conference needs and appropriate expertise, duties may include serving as a volunteer in the different tracks, assisting conference sessions, or undertaking comparable light-touch conference activities. Organisers will coordinate assignments and account for scheduling constraints and potential conflicts of interest.
